Production: Working out expenses for cast
Its important for me as a Producer to pay our actors travel expenses fairly. As we advertised asking for Kent based actors and actresses I spoke with those who were travelling outside of Kent and made sure they understood that within the audition process.
We have a total budget for travel expenses of £370. In total we spent roughly £360.
This is how much each actor received, where they were travelling from and how many days on set they were:
Christine: £180, travelling from London by train, on set for 6 days and received a daily travel rate of £30.
Greg: £93, travelling from the Brighton area by car, on set for 6 days and received a daily travel rate of £15.50
Liz: £30, travelling from Rochester by car, on set for 3 days and received a daily travel rate of £10.
Susan: £10, travelling from Maidstone by car, on set for 1 day and received a daily travel rate of £10. Susan refused to take travel expenses.
Bob: £10, travelling from Rochester by car, on set for 1 day and received a daily travel rate of £10.
David: £10, travelling from Maidstone by car, on set for 1 say and received a daily travel rate of £10. David refused to take travel expenses.
Out of courtesy to our Production Assistant we paid £35 to fuel his car as he was collecting Christine from the local train station every morning as well as running too and fro the studios to help us collect equipment that was late being returned by another group. He was with us for the whole of filming in February and used a tank of fuel.
With two actors refusing to take payment, we saved £20 making our total travel expenses £348. This leaves us room in case we need to call the actors back for any pick ups or reshoots, meaning we won't go over budget.
