Professional Practice: Placement Day 10
On my final day working with Twenty Twenty, I was told that the hotel I had found for First Dates Hotel 2 was the one they had confirmed with Channel 4! They had taken the commissioner out to see it and apparently she really liked it and they have sealed a deal with the hotel to come and shoot out there for 5 weeks.
I am not allowed to say where the hotel is or what it is called as it has not been released into the public as of yet and the deal could fall through if the news spread. Kirsty said about me going with them when they go out to film to be a runner on the show as I was the one who found the hotel for them. This was truly something I was not expecting but I am so excited about being given this experience!
The CEO to say thank you bought me flowers, chocolates and a card for the work I had done and was presented these by Kirsty, which again came as a surprise to me as I wasn't expecting anything for essentially doing my job on work experience. I was so grateful and didn't quite know what to do with myself!
Kirsty got a call from the people out in the hotel and they asked if I could research the weather for the last 5 years where the hotel is set. Originally it was said that if I could find a weekly average of the weather readings then that would be fine but if I was able to find a daily reading that would be even better. I found it really challenging to get information for the weather for the last 5 years as it's not something that is usually stored easily online. It took a lot of researching and a very long time but I managed to collate using a multitude of websites a daily reading for the weather in the last five years for this country.
Once I had completed this, I emailed it to Kirsty who was able to store it for when the location scouts return. To end the day I went back to scanning release forms before emailing Tim (CEO) a 'thank you for having me' and to tell him how much I've enjoyed my experience at Twenty Twenty. He called me into his office to have a chat and I was instantly veery nervous. He asked me all about what I did at Uni and what I wanted to get into for my career. He rounded off by saying that if I ever needed anything not to hesitate contacting him or anyone from Twenty Twenty and that they would be more than happy to help. I was slightly overwhelmed by this and so pleased that I had made a good impression. I have really loved my time at Twenty Twenty and want to go back as soon as possible.
