Production: Location Improvements Marie's House

We went and did a test shoot at the location in Lords Wood for Marie's house and discovered we could be more creative with using it to our best advantage.

Originally, the plan was to have all of our action based on the driveway where the gates are to show how Annie & Dean have been completely shut out of Marie's life.  Once at the location we felt that we wouldn't be using the location to its full advantage by keeping it all in one area. We decided that the first scene there would remain in front of the half closed gates where Annie & Dean's car can't get through, to show that Marie is angry with them and has struck her ties with them.

The second time we are at the house, Marie is supposed to speak to Annie & Dean who are spying on her house with binoculars, through a tannoy as part of her security systems. Again this was supposed to be set at the front gates.  Instead I had the idea that they could be spying through the windows, standing on the front step at the door. This shows how Marie is slowly letting them get closer to her again but by having her still speak through a system and not in person shows they still are unsuccessful in their efforts. We have chosen to now split this scene into two separate scenes so that we can see Marie in her house speaking to Annie & Dean through her security system.  By seeing inside her house it emphasises her wealth and status and adds creativity to our shot choices by having Marie speak to Annie & Dean through her TV which is 'wired into' the security system.

Overall this scene flows a lot better and is more visually stimulating for the audience, now that these changes have been made. We are using the location to its full potential for our episode and it has done our script justice.
