Production: Creating contracts for cast

I created contracts for our cast to sign in order to cover us in case an actor turns around asking for more money when they shouldn't be.  It also covers them and allows them to know exactly what they will be receiving.

I used my performers contract that I have for work as a guide to how to write a contract.  When I presented this to Simon after writing it, he said it sounded too 'scary' and serious.  Our contracts aren't legally binding therefore some of the wording which I had used I can't put into the contract.  I can't force an actor to stay a part of the project, as much as I may want to, as we aren't paying them a fee.  I had described the travel expenses as a fee which was not allowed to go into the contract because we are students and can't legally pay actors a fee for a student production. This is because the university loses their insurances to cover us as students if we have a fee to pay actors.

Coming away from that meeting, I revised my contracts and did some more research into what should be in an actors contract.

From what I can see, this contract template isn't too dissimilar to the one I had originally written.  I adapted the wording of some sentences to make it clearer and then resent these finalised versions to the actors. Please see below for the final contract:
