Pre-Production: Sourcing Props & Costumes
As the Producer it is my job to source all of the props and costumes for the show. I take what Becca's vision is and find the things to make the show happen.
We are hoping that we will be able to source the majority through what we already have at home and what the actors already own however in case this is not possible, our next ideal port of call is local charity shops. Charity shops are great for finding a variety of clothes and knicknacks which are very much needed for Young & Famous as the house where Annie & Dean I've needs to look like it belongs to them. It should show their lifetime through their years together and look homely and 'ordinary' for their personalities.
However, if the charity shops don't have the items that we need, then I have sourced options of where to find the cheapest costumes and props possible. The majority comes from local supermarkets that sell clothes and also Amazon & Ebay as they are notorious for bargain deals.
It is challenging to keep within our budget if buying everything through these places if we have not got any of the items from charity shops or from home. This is something we will have to consider when looking at our budget once again. It may mean reshuffling and prioritising more to costumes and props, however it could also mean putting more money into the budget to accustom these extra items. This is something we hope to avoid.
The Sourcing Costumes & Props pages can be found in the Pre-Production Book.
