Pre-Production: Pitching Young & Famous

For our pitch we made sure to have completed as many elements of Young & Famous as possible to ensure we gave the best understanding possible.  As we are pitching a sitcom it was important to us to make the pitch lighthearted and a amusing when possible. The way this was achieved was by adding to the powerpoint slides funny images of our group in the context of what each slide was about. For example, for the audience slide we had a picture of silhouettes at the bottom of the slide and had everyone from the year's face on one of the silhouettes. Another was showcases our roles and therefore our Young & Famous group's faces were in some bread roles.

As Producer it was my role to ensure that we kept on task to complete our to do list for our pitch. I created a rough schedule of things that we needed to have done by the pitch and attempted to organise our schedules to suit what was happening between the date starting the pitch and the pitch date.  We were able to adapt and adjust what we did and when through this schedule, so long as we completed it. This worked well as it made it clear as to what everyone was to complete and made sure that it was all inserted into the pitch as we went. This allowed us time at the end to present our pitch how we felt best presented our idea without us rushing.

When it came to presenting the pitch we were quite calm which was an amazing feeling to have as I have never felt that way before a pitch before.  I believe this because we were confident in our idea and felt that we could answer any question about it confidently, knowing that what any of us said the others in the group would be thinking something similar about it. We practiced our pitch the day before to ensure that we spoke for the right amount of time, not making it too long or too short and this was a good thing to do as it prepared us fully for what was to come.

The pitch went really well, we got great feedback from the other members of the year as well as from Andrea and Simon.  We were able to answer the questions we were asked and we submitted our first draft of the script to Simon as well which was a success as we met our deadline.

Overall I really enjoyed the pitch and the comedic elements we introduced in our presentation went down well helping to make it a success. Moving forward we are booking in a tutorial with Simon to discuss our first draft script as well as putting all of our pitch documents into our pre-production book.
