Double Exposure Shoot: Reading Week
For the whole of reading week, I was on the set of 3rd year's Major Project "Double Exposure". They had a lovely location called The Tithe Barn in Ashford and this is where we were for the whole week.
I had the responsibility of being a runner, ensuring the clapper board was correct and used in every take, continuity and also catering for 11 people every day from 8:00-22:30. The days were incredibly long but the experience was well worth it. The shoot was very organised and everyone knew what they were doing and when they were needed for.
As I was in charge of the Clapper Board, I suggested a way to help make the edit easier to organise, which was to label the shot for each scene alphabetically (Scene 1a Take 4, for example)so that the editor wouldn't get confused. The director and producer liked this idea and went with it and this has helped them to organise their shots for post production.
I was also in charge of ensuring there was seamless continuity throughout the week as we needed to get pick up shots on different days. I found this quite challenging as I needed to have eyes on every last detail of the location and the talent as well. I took pictures throughout to help me know for definite where everything was placed and at what angle, to ensure there were no slip ups in the continuity for the film. Here are some pictures of the set and how things needed to be arranged.

Overall, I really enjoyed working on this shoot and it was a great experience to see what I will be doing this time next year when we are filming our Major projects. It has helped me to realise that I would quite like to work as a producer for the unit as I think it will help build my confidence and will be a challenge for me.
