Digital News - Planning and Preparation

I contacted Demelza Hospice to ask if they would be interested in letting us come down to the centre and film a story about their plans to build a sensory garden. I spoke to a lady named Jane Shotliff who works as a communications officer for the organisation and she was happy for us to come down to the hospice and shoot.

She sent me this email of confirmation and a few rules:

This is fantastic because it will give us perfect opportunities to go down, do a recce and meet the people will be meeting. We will also be able to do some test shots to see what the environment is like to film in and also brief the interviewee so that they feel comfortable with what will happen on the day.

I then went on to contact Tesco's management to ask if they would be happy to let us come and shoot with them about their 'Tesco's Bags of Help' scheme that is allowing Demelza to have this money for their sensory garden. I was really surprised when they immediately said yes and to come down the very next day. I let the other people in my group know and they were pleased with the outcome. Unfortunately the girls had to go home before we could all write a script together for the shoot so once myself and Ellen booked out the equipment needed, I printed out a risk assessment to allow us to take the equipment away.

I then wrote a script of questions to ask the people at Tesco and also a shot list that will give us good coverage for the package section. Our interview with Tesco was originally going to be our 'live' section however after a meeting with Helen, we decided it wasn't active enough to warrant it being live. Ellie is now in charge of sourcing a live story that will link to our story and then we shall work together on making it mingle into the package.

I went to Tesco's that evening and did a recce, meeting the people who would be involved. Here is all the documents for the planning and preparation that I have done:
