Digital News - Branding Idea
I would choose to do a website as opposed to a Youtube channel because it's more formal which would fit my story idea better. In terms of branding, I would base it around children and young people, however I'm not sure what direction I would go with it. I'd like to make the news channel about positive things that happen to children and young people. For example my story about Demelza winning the funds for their sensory garden will have a positive impact on the children and young adults as it will help them to develop and make memories with their families. We could research into other 'happenings' with young people and children that we could report on.
I'd want it to be based locally in Kent so that it didn't become too broad and by creating it locally it becomes a more targeted audience. For example another story that I have come across in my research would be Sittingbourne's "Chalk It Up" Art festival 2016 which allows young artists to come into the town centre and decorate the walls and floors in chalk and pastels to give them a chance to showcase their talents and what they are passionate about. In a way, this gives young people the chance to express themselves and let their voices be heard. With today's society, young people care a lot about being listened to so this would fit in well with the feel of positive happenings.
I could see the colour scheme being yellows or blues as they're bright colours that appeal to people's attention and promote the positive feelings that the channel is aiming for.
