Edit Workshop with Tim
We had an editing workshop with Tim about how to cut together a proper interview using GV's and cutaways to tell the story of what the interviewee is telling. We had our first experience with transcripts and how to use them within a sync which I found very beneficial.
The footage we were given was about masonry within the Canterbury Cathedral and one of their projects that they are doing. The sync is told from an apprentice in the masonry who was an ex-soldier.
I found this very useful and I learnt a lot from Tim as he showed me where to find good edit points and how to manipulate the footage to tell the story through cutaways so that it doesn't just cover edit points, it takes the audience on a journey with the interviewee. He helped me by showing me how to make the audio smooth and clean which is something I will take forward into the editing of our piece.
