Editing Phase

I am now in the editing phase of both my films. I have found a few continuity errors in my drama in terms of using the props. There is an unavoidable prop error where Miranda takes off her glasses in one shot and the following shot she is seen taking them off again. This is a clear case of not taking the glasses off on the same line as a few previous shots before. This is unfortunate however I don't think it is major because the focus is turned on Brendan. For future, I will make sure that I check all shots after they have been filmed for these pieces of continuity. To make this an easier job, I will write down what the actors/actresses are doing on certain lines and make sure that for each take they repeat the actions and movements that they did.

I have found searching for the non-diegetic sound for my drama quite a difficult process. Through looking at sites such as youtube and searching the style of music I want, they've all been far too intense for what I want. The music needs to be subtle so as not to take away from the drama of the performances, but it is there to intensify it for the audience.  So far I have found some royalty free music that will work for some sections of my drama however I am still in the process of searching for the other scenes.

I was given good feedback for my rough cut of my drama, and constructive comments to help me improve. One of these was that I need to balance out the editing from both Brendan's and Miranda's perspective so that it will create more drama and 'sit' easier with the audience as they are digesting the story.

I was also given feedback on my self portrait film which I was very pleased about because it has helped me to think about editing my film in a number of different ways. I have thought about scrapping my green screened mirror sequence altogether and leaving the last mirror image at the end as Simon thinks it makes it a lot more of a powerful message.
