TV Drama Research - Mayday




Mayday is a 2013 British television drama about a young 14 year old girl who goes missing on the day she is meant to be crowned May Queen. Immediately, the audience is signalled to possible suspects who all have a guilty aura about them. 
This is a crime drama that has its audience suspicious and uncomfortable throughout the 5 episodes due to the suspected characters' mannerisms and motivations for taking 14 year old Hattie. 




There is a lot of the colour green as the majority of the scenes are set in the woods. The hazy look surrounding the characters add an air of mystery and suspense to the series. 
With my Drama "Secret Smile", the element of suspicion and suspense is what drives the plot forward. 

 Mayday's use of characterisation helps to add this intensity and is what makes the drama thrilling and full of anticipation. When I film my drama, I will need to ensure that I map out what each characters motivation is in order to create the most appropriate atmosphere for the film that I can.

Fiction Adaptation: "Being British" by Deanna Rodger

I have chosen to adapt the poem " Being British " by Deanna Rodger.  From my understanding of the poem, it is about the challenges she has faced regarding interracial stereotyping and the struggle to be accepted as a British Citizen of natural birth.  Deanna is a spoken word poet and an international performer. Production: Producer's Role During Post-Production Research

As I am the Producer for Young & Famous and I am not editing the project, I understand that the Producer takes a step back from the post-production phase.  I have researched into what the Producer's role is throughout this stage as I was unsure if what I was doing was enough.  According to the Creative Skill set; a Producer's role throughout Post - Production is to keep in regular contact with the Director and editor, but to let them harness the footage and create the film.  As the Producer, this is their time to deal with all the finances of the film such as paying actors, marketing and liaising with the distribution companies to sell or exhibit the film and confirming edit or sound changes.  As we are not going to be distributing Young & Famous to big companies to sell, I focused on paying all of the actors their expenses and regularly coming into the edit suit for review meetings with Simon and Andrea.  I...
