TV Drama Research - Boy A

'Boy A' is about a young man who was released from prison after serving a sentence because of his involvement in the killing of a young girl when he was a boy. He is given a new identity and begins forming new relationships but struggles with keeping his past his secret.
This series reminded me of "Secret Smile's" Brendan Block because both characters are hiding their past and getting themselves into further trouble. I find there is a big difference between them as Brendan Block begins to pursue Miranda in an obsessive manner whereas Jack Burridge tries to confront his past and deal with it.
Boy A uses a lot of close ups which allow the audience to identify with Jack. In particular, it allows the audience to see his inner struggles when dealing with his past.
If I can use carefully chosen close ups, it could allow the audience an insight into a character's emotions. It could make the audience uncomfortable of fearful. It depends on how I want to position them and who I want them to identify with.
