Short Films "The Most Beautiful Thing"
This Cameron Covell film is definitely a film that practices films "show don't tell" rule and I believe that the use of music really helps to depict the mood of the characters.
The film is about an adolescent teenager who is trying to find a date to his school prom. He ends up creating a friendship with a teenage girl who is deaf and they both try to reach to each other through sign language and speech, something they both hadn't tried before. This is a very touching film and had won awards from the LACHSA 2012 Moon Dance Best Film Award, along with Best Actor.
My film is very different compared to Covell's however something I have learned from watching his film is that when music is used in the correct way, it can help a film to tell a story on its own. If there was no dialogue in this film at all, I would still have a very clear understanding of what the film's intentions for the audience's emotions would be. This is something that I aim to include in my film, I would like to be able to show an audience a story and have them feel connected to the characters and become immersed in the story and I believe that music will allow a large proportion of this to happen.
