Pitch For My Idea : Story Telling Unit


The Meeting
"An arrogant lad  meets old war veteran and a clashing of views brings a change in both their views and ways of living."

Characters:
Rylee 

Conflict: He doesn't want to work in the care home, he just wants to play football with his friends.

Change: After meeting Jimmy he gains more respect for people and discovers that there is more to life than playing football and begins to take a keen interest in history.


Jimmy

Conflict: Has a lot of internal guilt about his actions throughout his lifetime and doesn't react calmly when asked about them by Rylee. 

Change: He learns to accept what happened wasn't his fault and begins to appreciate not to stereotype all young people. 


Location: Set in a care home


 Genre: Drama
Storyline (brief): Rylee's father finds him a work experience placement in a care home where he meets 87 year old WW1 veteran Jimmy. They find a common talking point of football. Jimmy tells him about the Christmas Truce 1914 which sparks interest in Rylee. After a few visits Rylee has started writing all of his stories into a book. When Rylee returns to the care home with the finished book Jimmy has died. The audience will see the change in Rylee through his reaction to Jimmy's death as he will show he cares whereas in the beginning he didn't want anything to do with him.

Fiction Adaptation: "Being British" by Deanna Rodger

I have chosen to adapt the poem " Being British " by Deanna Rodger.  From my understanding of the poem, it is about the challenges she has faced regarding interracial stereotyping and the struggle to be accepted as a British Citizen of natural birth.  Deanna is a spoken word poet and an international performer. Production: Producer's Role During Post-Production Research

As I am the Producer for Young & Famous and I am not editing the project, I understand that the Producer takes a step back from the post-production phase.  I have researched into what the Producer's role is throughout this stage as I was unsure if what I was doing was enough.  According to the Creative Skill set; a Producer's role throughout Post - Production is to keep in regular contact with the Director and editor, but to let them harness the footage and create the film.  As the Producer, this is their time to deal with all the finances of the film such as paying actors, marketing and liaising with the distribution companies to sell or exhibit the film and confirming edit or sound changes.  As we are not going to be distributing Young & Famous to big companies to sell, I focused on paying all of the actors their expenses and regularly coming into the edit suit for review meetings with Simon and Andrea.  I...
